Strangers take the Best Photos

by Josh on Apr.14, 2005, under Flash

A prime example of why you should always have a stranger take your photo when you go on a trip.

I’ve uploaded a few more photos from my trip to Flashforward last week. Among them you’ll see just some random shots of the theater, me and Curtis from work, and me with Danny Dura and Christian Cantrell. (Those are our feet up above, just in case you wondered what kind of shoes we had on that day.)

Of the 50 photos….

by Josh on Apr.13, 2005, under Flash

I just noticed today that a photo of the finalists from Flashforward has been posted online. (As soon as I landed in SLC, my wife got me and we headed out of town again, so I’m just now getting back online.)

While at the post-festival party, a group photo of the festival finalists was taken, and I swear they must have taken about 40 or 50 of them. Why is it, that of all those photos, the one that makes it online is the one where it looks like I’m not sure of where I am?

Flash in Animation

by Josh on Apr.08, 2005, under Flash

Well, Flashforward is now over, and I’m now sitting in my hotel room trying to recreate some of the stuff that Eric Natzke showed us during the last session of the show I attended. Holy crap, that guy was amazing!

MediaRain Flashforward Trailer

by Josh on Apr.08, 2005, under Flash

As part of the Flashforward Film Festival, each finalist was asked to prepare a 45 second trailer to help introduce the entry during the awards show.

MediaRain has posted our trailer, which was produced by myself and Dave Nibley at MediaRain. Dave took care of the animations and video editing, while I did the music and put the video on the web.

It’s a pretty nice little piece, and I think it represents the product well. There are four sizes of the video available, with your standard web sizes, and then the “Symphony Size” which is the full version used at the Festival.

Flashforward Film Festival

by Josh on Apr.07, 2005, under Flash

Just got back from the Film Festival, and unfortunately, our entry didn’t win. Darn it.

Of course, because I helped make it, that means that I still think that it’s the best entry in it’s category, even though it didn’t win. I’m allowed to be biased in that respect. However, there were some really phenomenal entries, and it was an honor for us to be nominated among them. Of course, it would’ve been an even bigger honor for us to win, but you can’t win everything. Maybe next year.

Congrats to all the winners!

Flashforward Notes - Day 1

by Josh on Apr.07, 2005, under Flash

My first day at my first Flashforward has been a good one. It’s been busy, and I was able to attend some good sessions. Over the next few days, I’ll be posting some of my notes from the sessions I was able to attend. This will help me to remember the stuff better, because I wrote it down again, but also, someone out there may find something useful here.

(Now maybe I can get some sleep, if that fireworks show across the way will end. It’s a nice one, but it seems like it’s going on 20-30 minutes now. It’s a good one, but long.)

Gaming @ Flashforward

by Josh on Apr.04, 2005, under Flash, Gaming

While at Flashforward next week, I’d love to get together with some of of you during some free time. Anyone looking for a game of Metroid Prime:Hunters on Nintendo DS? I’m curious to see how many of us at FF will have either an NDS or PSP. Or even their entire consoles for some Halo or Mario Kart action.
