    Hi,
I tried this for actionscript 3, but I can’t get it to compile??
    I wrote this:
    -output ./bin/$(PROJECT_NAME).swf -file-specs $(PROJECT_NAME).as

Everything else is the same, am I doing something wrong?
This is such a great way to work with mxml files, I love it`-`

An AS3 project template? No problem. I’ll put one together this weekend and post it here.

    HI;
I have compiled .as and .mxml source files okay using your guide - thanks!
Now… I have no idea how to add to a class path. I’d like to add some of the .as classes Mike chambers has announced (like the rss for example) but have no idea where to put the source files in an XCode build scenario. Any tips?

Also - how do I generate the html to wrap a compiled swf in?

    Thanks.

    Hi Josh,
I just upgraded Flex beta 3, and it works. I replaced the new flex sdk(renamed it flex), and relace it, and everything else is the same`-` It now comes with a standalone flash player 9 for the mac too.

    Thanks for your help,
    John

[...] If you’re using the instructions I posted earlier showing how to use the Flex SDK with Xcode, you’re in luck. Although there were a lot of changes between Beta 2 and Beta 3,you can still use the same instructions I posted earlier. [...]

    hello

I’m just trying to compile an as3 project with the new beta but the compiler always says command line: Error: unknown configuration variable ‘flexlib’

can’t find any documentation about this. has the property name changed? flexlib does’nt show up in mxmlc -help.

    thanks for your help

[...] As a bonus Josh also has a tutorial on using XCode with the Flex SDK (which I guess will have to do until Macrobe gets around to releasing Flex Builder for the Mac). [...]

Have you tried this with the final release of Flex?

    Hi Josh,
Well I just tried to get this to work with the final release, but it does not seem to work. It compiles and makes the swf, but nothing gets wrote to the file. I tried this simple file:

    John -

I haven’t had a chance to try this with the final SDK, but I’ll try to get it going this weekend.

    Thanks Josh.
I tried Flex SDK 2.0(release version) + XCode2.2 + StandAlone Player on My Intel Mac.
    it seems to work well.

    I translated your entry.

    Hi Josh,

Thanks for that article. Had me up and running in no time.
The only thing I can’t get going is the fdb. The fdb in the bin directory was broken, but I was able to fix that. But I am not getting any functions from my app listed and cannot set any breakpoints. You any luckier with that?

    Cheers,
    Phil

    Hello,

I also have an issue with:
Command /Developer/SDKs/bin/mxmlc failed with exit code 2

I will continue to search for possible solutions and post anything I find.

  18. Vixiom Axioms » Build Flex on OS X with TextMate

[...] Okay enough about my love/hate relationship with Adobe, here’s how I built the ‘Vixiom Flex Builder 3000′. First make sure you have Xcode installed (I can’t remember if this is 100% necessary before I was using TextMate I used Xcode to build from Josh Buhler’s instructions), if you use ruby Xcode is probably already installed, if not install it from the CD that came with your Mac. Put the Flex SDK in /Developer/SDKs/Flex. [...]

  19. Pocket Flash » Blog Archive » Flash 9 public alpha

[...] I’ve been tryin to avoid AS 3.0, as I’ve been knee deep in Flash 4 syntax for the past two years, but over the past week I’ve managed to get caught up with Flex 2. Quite frankly I’m in love, not having Flex builder available for mac has put me off until I read this post by Josh Buhler and installed the SDK to use with Xcode and within 10 minutes I had my very first Flex application. So after a few breezos and a weekend of trawling through the docs on Adobe Flex dev centre I came across Flash 9 public alpha for AS 3.0 preview over at Adobe Labs. [...]

    Josh,
I’m a total novice. I am trying to learn to program C language. I am having problems using a compiler to output my results. Every instruction just says, “Get a compiler” or “Compile results.” I have no idea what to actually do or where to go. I downloaded Xcode and know it is much more comlex than simlpy a compiler. Could you walk me through using Xcode for simple C compiling or suggest another way to get started with C and compile my simple code?
    Thanks! - Jeff

  21. Josh

Sorry Jeff, but I really don’t know anything about C or building anything with it. I use Xcode as an editor for Flash ActionScript & Flex, and don’t use the same compilers that Xcode uses.
