Fact 9
I have no appendix. Had to have it removed back in the sixth grade. So, if you’re ever unfortunate enough to see me without my shirt, you’ll see a lovely four inch scar on my belly.
One of my favorite memories about that experience was having my sixth grade teacher come visit while I was in the hospital. She had decided to bring in the class hamster to pay me a visit, and snuck it into the hospital inside one of those hamster balls, which was inside her bag. As we were visiting, she put the ball down on the floor, and let the little guy roam around the room. However, after a couple of minutes, the nurse came into the room, and in order to hide the hamster, he was quickly punted under the bed.
It’s amazing that little guy survived the school year.
Fact 8
I love cartoons. There’s something about hand-drawn animation that I find really appealing. I don’t have any problems with the newer Flash-animated or computer animated ones, but if I’ve got my choice between watching Pixar’s latest feature or watching Marvin try to destroy the Earth with his Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator, I’ll pick Marvin every time.
My favorites are Futurama, The Simpsons, the old Looney Toons, and Tom & Jerry shorts. After all, there we wouldn’t have the awesomeness that is Itchy and Scratchy if it wasn’t for Tom & Jerry. Honestly, sometimes the only difference between Tom & Jerry and Itchy & Scratchy is the amount of blood - the level of violence that they both try to inflict on each other is pretty equal. (I’ll also add that if there’s ever a DVD collection of only the Itchy & Scratchy shorts, I’d pick that up in a heart beat.)
Fact 7
I’ve never broken any bones. I’ve fallen and hurt myself plenty of times, but so far, haven’t broken anything.
I do however, have a broken tooth, as a result of my stellar athletic ability. I didn’t react fast enough, and ended up catching a baseball from my brother with my teeth.
For the third or fourth time in the last week, I’ve caught myself trying to treat my iPod or cell phone as an additional display connected to my Mac. A few times it’s been because I wanted to skip a song on the iPod, so I moused over to the edge of my screen, and was slightly irritated when the cursor didn’t pass over to the iPod’s screen.
Today, it was my cell phone, because I had received a text message and I wanted to read it. Again, I tried mousing off of the edge of my screen to the phone’s, to read the message. I guess I’ve been spoiled by Teleport.

Fact 6
I was a band geek in school. Marching band, pep band, jazz band, orchestra, playing for the musicals, etc. If there was a need for a trumpet player, I was there. I even played in the pit orchestra for another high school’s musical because they didn’t have enough trumpet players.

There have been plenty of times in projects where I’ve wanted to compare two objects to see if they are equal. I don’t really care if they are the same object, all I care about is if they are identical - meaning that they could be two unique objects, but that the values of their properties are equal to each other.

I often work with two Macs at a time - my PowerMac and a MacBook Pro. I navigate between the two of them using Teleport, which allows you to control multiple Macs with one mouse and keyboard, simply by mousing over to the other machine, as if it were a second display. It even lets you copy and paste from one machine to another, and drag and drop files across machines. Pure hotness.
As I’m usually glancing back and forth between the two machines, it can sometimes get to be irritating when one of them switches on it’s screensaver or sleeps. To prevent this, just give the Mac a healthy dose of Caffeine. When running, the app is a simple little icon that appears in your menubar, and takes only one click to toggle on or off, preventing your Mac from entering sleep mode or activating it’s screensaver. The best part? It’s free!
Fact 3
One of my favorite snacks used to be M&M’s - I’d blend a bag of the peanut butter kind with the crispy ones. Best. Mix. Ever. Unfortunately, the crispy M&M are no longer available in the US.
