Fact 13

I once had the “pleasure” of riding a snowboard like a toboggan down an entire ski run.

A few years back I went snowboarding with a few friends at Brighton. Shortly after getting off of the lift, (within a few hundred yards of the lift) one of the bindings on my board broke. I attempted to ride with only one foot attached, but that didn’t work as well as I had hoped. And walking down was taking too long for my taste.

As a result, I ended up sitting on the board, and riding it like a sled all the way back to my car, using my feet out in front of me as brakes. Since my board was pointed straight down the mountain, I kept picking up speed, and every time I tried to slow down, a huge plume of snow would come up and blind me for a few moments. I imagine it looked something like this:

That’s at least what it felt like.

Luckily, this happened on what was going to be the last run of the day, so I was able to get a full day in before going home.
