Twitter Blocks is a kind of interesting way to visualize Twitter. It’s a Flash app that loads a timeline of tweets and arranges them in a 3D grid. It looks like it was launched about two weeks ago, and is a joint project between the folks at Twitter and Stamen Design.

There’s not a lot of explanation, but as far as I can tell, it attempts to place related tweets and people together as “neighbors”, and the altitude of various tiles on the grid is related to the frequency of the user’s updates.

By default, it launches to the public timeline, but you can also view any user’s updates by adding their username to the url (see below).
