I’ve been slowly working on getting an actual college degree for a while now. My wife introduced me to the Multimedia Communcation Technology progam at UVSC back when we were dating. The main reason I switched from being a Comp. Sci. major at another school was mostly due to her homework being a lot more fun than mine ever was.

Fast forward to a few years later, and I’ve finally earned my Associates Degree in Multimedia Communications. Or so I thought.

I received my diploma in the mail a couple of weeks ago, and I did a quick scan to make sure that my name was spelled right, then promptly framed it for display in my office. I was excited to finally have something to show for all that time spent in class.

Then, last week I received a call from the graduation office at UVSC. Turns out that I didn’t actually graduate with a Multimedia major. You can see what I earned instead below:

Yup. Mulitmedia.

In my excitement of receiving the diploma, I didn’t even bother to check the spelling of the major title. I figured that the school would be able to handle spelling it’s own departments correctly. All I had worried about was my name being correct. The graduation office was calling all students that had received the mis-spelled diplomas to offer a corrected version. So, earlier today I stopped by campus to exchange the old diploma for a correct one. So I now actually have a diploma for the major I earned. And before leaving, I made sure to check the spelling of every word on the new one, and this one is now suitable for framing.

Now that I have this degree taken care of, it’s time to start on that Bachelor’s Degree. Of course, at the rate that I’m going, other people will be doctors by the time I finish.
