Flex CS3 Icon

Eric twitter’d earlier today about FlexBuilder needing a square icon. I’m not sure if this is what he meant, but I liked the idea, and whipped up a CS3-style icon using the Flex logo from the Wheel-o-icons on John Nack’s blog.
Sure, the icon for FlexBuilder may really be the “FB”, and not the “Fx”, but I like the “Fx” more, so that’s the one I made. I’ll try to post an “FB” later.
This icon is for OS X only, and you’ll need to use something like CandyBar, or some other way of changing your application icons.

I’ve also made a wallpaper based on the icon (nothing fancy - I’m not a designer), and have included the Fireworks source files for the icon if you’d like to produce a Windows version.

Flex Builder Square Icon…

Also, you don’t need any icon changing software to use this.
Just do a Command-I on the Icon file, then Click on the Icon in the Info Window and press Command-C.
Then do a Command-I on the Flex Application, but this time, do a Command-V on the Icon.
(You may need to remove Flex from the Dock and Put it back for the icon to update)
This is an easy way to change the icon of any Application/File or Folder in Mac OSX

Tim’s right and thats what I did 3 secs after downloading it. Looks AWESOME in my dock. Thanks so much Josh - makes everything nice and tidy.

I had tried that earlier, and it wasn’t working for me like it normally does. That’s why I went the CandyBar route. Glad to hear that it worked for somebody else though.

A really nice CS3 like Flexbuilder Icon…
It really sucks that Adobe FlexBuilder2 uses the old Macromedia Style icons, I thought about making one but I figured someone already did.. lo and behold they sure did. Here is a really nice replacement created by Josh Buhler.
